race series

The KRRA Race Series consists of the following races:

RESOLUTION RUN 8K is held in early January (typically the first Sunday) and is the first race in the KRRA race series.  It is also a KRRA directed event. The Resolution Run is 8K and often sub-zero temperatures. This race takes place at the venue that includes the Centre 70 Arena, and the race route passes through Reddendale. TWOSOME RUN 5K is held in mid-February and offers a unique team “twosome” format as well as solo competition for KRRA race series points.  This takes place on Gore Road in Kingston just east of highway 15, and the 3rd crossing. Click here for more details.

LIMESTONE RACE WEEKEND – KIDS 2K /5K /10K /Half-Marathon occurs on the last weekend in April.  Saturday features two races at MacDonald Park on the waterfront: the Tommy Compton Memorial Run (2K), and the Waterfront 10K.  On Sunday, the 5K and Historic Half Marathon start and finish at historic Kingston City Hall and a donation is made to BGC South East.   Click here for more details.

HOWE ISLAND HUSTLE 8K usually held on the second Saturday in May and the day before Mother’s Day.  This is an out-and-back on the pastoral Howe Island. This is the first race which is part of the Tri-Island Series. Included is a kids 1-mile race. Click here for more details.

BEAT BEETHOVEN 8K  takes place on the first Sunday in June.  Start and finish are in front of City Hall in historic downtown Kingston.  Funds raised support the Kingston Symphony Association. Click here for more details. NOTE: this event is not taking place in 2024, but will return in 2025.

NAPANEE HERITAGE 5K – Enjoy the beautiful town of Napanee with this community run, as the substitute for Beat Beethoven for 2024. There is a Kid’s Race.  Click here for more details.

LIMESTONE MILE – It’s intense. It’s fast. It’s two kids races, a women’s race, a men’s race. It’s four short races in one morning with team competition. It’s the KRRA Canada Day Limestone Mile and it occurs every Canada Day in downtown Kingston at the Memorial Centre.  Click here for more details.

WOLFE ISLAND CLASSIC 5K takes place on the first (or second) Sunday in July on Wolfe Island.  There is also a 10K and a Kids race. This is the second race which is part of the Tri-Island Series. Click here for more details.

WOOLY BULLY 10K There is also a 5K and a Kids race. It takes place on the third Sunday of August on Amherst Island. It is a fundraiser for extracurricular activities at Amherst Public School. This is the third race which is part of the Tri-Island Series. Click here for more details.

GLEN TAY BLOCK RACE 14.7K This 100+ year old race takes place on the last Thursday night in August in downtown Perth, Ontario. It was added to the KRRA Race Series in 2018. Click here for more details.

FORT HENRY 5KXC is the only cross-country race in the series. It is held on the third Saturday in September and features two loops on the cross country trail atop Fort Henry Hill.  It also also offers a Kids 1K Race.  Click here for more details.

THE COUNTY MARATHON is held the last Sunday in September. This is the autumn half marathon for the Serie). This event also has a full marathon and 50K races distances which are not eligible for the KRRA Series. Click here for more details.

ANNIVERSARY RUN 10K is the first Sunday in November. It starts and finishes at The Landings Golf & Teaching Centre and takes runners through a scenic course in the west end of Kingston.  There is also a kids One-Miler Cross Country Race before the adult event. Click here for more details.

KRRA members (as of July 1) accumulate points throughout the year based on results in each race that they have entered.  Series awards are presented at the AGM in late November. Read more details on how the Race Series Standings are calculated here.
